Mo'Nique sues Netflix for discrimination

Resident in California and elsewhere presume that they will be treated fairly in the workplace. While many employees often enjoy this, the unfortunate reality is that some employers mistreat certain employees based on protected characteristics, such as their race, age or gender.

Are men sexually harassed very often in the workplace?

Sexual harassment is something that no one should have to deal with. Sadly, both men and women do. While it's usually seen as an issue for women, men may have a harder time being recognized when they speak out. There is a myth that men are always the accused and never the accuser, but it simply isn't the case.

Several farms in California have been found to be in violation of federal wage laws. According to the Labor Department's investigation, there were widespread violations of the labor provisions of the H-1A visa program as well as the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act. Several of these violations occurred at five Santa Maria farms. Others occurred in Fresno, San Luis Obispo and Oxnard.

Every winter holiday season for several years has erupted into a cultural war between advocates of "Merry Christmas" and those who back "Happy Holidays," instead. The reality, however, is that the winter months have major holidays in them for many of the world's religions -- and you shouldn't have to face religious discrimination at work if you don't happen to share the same faith as your employers or co-workers.

New law makes it easier to sue for workplace discrimination

Assembly 51, a new bill, was signed by Governor Gavin Newsom this October in an effort to discourage harassment and discrimination in the workplace. In the past, many companies would force employees to give up their right to sue their employer in certain cases and instead require third-party arbitration. However, the new bill puts an end to forced arbitration, thereby allowing employees to bring claims against their employers.
